Two Stages Using Ceramic Diluting Agent
Stage 1: Wetting of the ceramic powder surface. Wetting is the most basic condition for ceramic powder dispersion. Ceramic Diluting Agent needs to evenly disperse the ceramic powder in the slurry solution. First, the ceramic powder must be wetted by the solution. In this process, Ceramic Diluting Agent has two functions.
①Interface between slurry and gas: Ceramic Diluting Agent adsorbs the solution, and the functional group at the other end of the dispersant faces the gas, thereby reducing the surface tension of the interface between slurry and gas. ②Interface between ceramic powder and solution: the functional group at the other end can adsorb ceramic powder to reduce the surface tension of the interface between ceramic powder and solution.
Stage 2: Ceramic Diluting Agent can prevent the settling and re-agglomeration of ceramic powder. There are two reasons for the instability of the dispersibility of the ceramic slurry: ① Settlement: Due to the large specific gravity of the ceramic powder, it is easily affected by gravity in the slurry and settles.
②Re-agglomeration: In the slurry, the ceramic powder will undergo Brownian motion because of its thermal energy. Although Brownian motion can prevent the settling of the ceramic powder, once the ceramic powder collides, it will re-agglomerate (the smaller the particle size, the more serious), thereby reducing the interfacial energy. Ceramic Diluting Agent can prevent the re-agglomeration of particles, so that the ceramic slurry has a more stable dispersion.
